LEGAL AUTHORITY

Act No. 247 of August 10, 2008, known as The Organic Law for the Commission for the Cooperative Development in Puerto Rico, annuls Act No. 89 of June, 21, 1966, as amended, that creates the Cooperative Inspector's Office and consolidates the functions, resources and personnel from that Office with the public corporation for the Supervision and Insurance of Cooperatives. Program

Cooperatives Inspection, Regulation and Intervention

Program Description

Monitors and investigates all cooperatives organized under the General Law of Cooperative Societies to ensure all cooperatives comply with the legal stipulations, regulations, incorporation clauses, and incet, the goals and purposes for which they were organized. Offers legal and financial advice, evaluates and conducts economic analysis directed to predict, in a timely manner, tendencies per sectors. It evaluates and grants permits to start operations, and inspects insolvent cooperatives. Also, audits cooperatives incorporated under the Special Youth Cooperative Law so that they comply with established laws and norms.

FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012 ADOPTED BUDGET

The Cooperative Inspector Office of Puerto Rico merged its operations with the Public Corporation for the Supervision and Insurance of Cooperatives. Consequently, all human and financial resources were transferred to the Corporation.
