LEGAL AUTHORITY

Act No. 177 of August 12, 1995, as amended, known as the Office of Pre-Trial Services Act.

MISSION

Investigate and evaluate all defendants subject to bail and submit verifiable information to the courts about their penal antecedents and their sociological and socio-economic profile.

PROGRAMS

General Management and Administration

Program Description

Implements the Agency's operational policies through the adoption and supervision of rules and regulations. Also, provides guidance and support services through the Legal Affairs Office and Human and Financial Resources Office.

Investigatiion and Evaluation of Defendants Before Trial

Program Description

Provides the General Court of Justice verifiable and trustworthy information at the time of determining conditional liberty. Supervise those freed in order to guarantee compliance with the conditions imposed by the Court. Also, investigates and arrests defendants who do not comply or are considered a risk to public safety.

FISCAL YEAR 2012-2013 ADOPTED BUDGET

The adopted consolidated budget for Fiscal Year 2012-2013 amounts to $7,499,000. This amount includes $7,418,000 from the Joint Resolution General Fund and $81,000 in Federal Funds.

Operational expenses reflect an increase of $722,000 when compared to funds assigned in fiscal year 2011-2012. Reorganization Plan #2-2011, known as the 2011 Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Reorganization Plan, transferred employees in administrative detachment and the financial resources needed for their payroll to the Office. Operational Expenses also reflect the effect of the implementation of an early retirement incentive program.

Funds from the Joint Resolution-General Fund will allow the agency to continue to provide verifiable information to the courts to determine conditional liberty, electronic monitoring and investigation and arrests of criminals released under the supervision of the Office to guarantee compliance with the conditions imposed by the Court.

The contributing Federal Grant is the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program to be used for supervision and electronic monitoring.
